Big Bass Boat
Big Bass Boat is one of those games that sounds boring on paper and then quietly eats your evening. You steer a small boat around lakes and rivers, pick a spot, cast, and wait for the line to twitch. The genius is in the tension of the reel-in — pull too hard and the line snaps, go too soft and the fish shakes loose. It turns a simple tap into a real little decision.
Controls are built around one thumb, which I appreciated on the train. A swipe casts, and a hold-and-release rhythm handles the fight. The physics of the rod bending felt believable enough that I started leaning into corners like an idiot. Sessions are short by design, so it never demanded more than I wanted to give it.
Battery-wise it's gentle, since the graphics are stylized rather than photoreal. We ran it for over an hour on a two-year-old phone with barely any heat. If you want a calm game that still asks you to pay attention, this one earns its spot on the home screen.
